How It Works
From your stack to your morning list.
Dashboards take weeks to set up and still wait for you to ask the right question. Shortlist connects in five minutes, reasons overnight, and hands you a ranked list at 7am. Here's the machinery.
Phase 1
We map your whole business. Read-only.
Your data lives on islands. Stripe knows what's billed. HubSpot knows what's promised. Your product knows what's actually used. GitHub knows what's shipped. Shortlist connects them — because the expensive problems live in the gaps between.
5-minute setup
No data engineering, no warehouse project. Authenticate your existing tools with OAuth and you're done before your coffee is.
Read-only, always
We verify credentials via OAuth and never write to your systems or touch production. Nothing changes because Shortlist is watching.
The commercial layer
We read the layer where money lives: subscriptions, invoices, deals, tickets, usage events, and the code changes that affect them.
Read-only / AES-256 encrypted
Phase 2
While you sleep, it reasons like an analyst.
Shortlist doesn't run queries and hope. It runs reasoning loops — a multi-step agent pipeline that works through your data the way a good analyst would, at machine speed, every night.
Context
Gathers the qualitative signal: what's the sentiment in that support thread? What is this Jira ticket actually blocking?
Relevance
Decides which metrics matter for what it found: churn rate for accounts hitting this error, ROI for this channel, review depth for this repo.
Impact
Puts money on it. Not "usage is down" but "usage down 42% on a $28k renewal due in 31 days."
The item
Writes it as a plain-English action with the evidence and a suggested next step attached. If it can't show its work, it doesn't ship.
Phase 3
Everything it finds fights for five slots.
Most tools show you everything and call it thoroughness. Shortlist runs two engines — one hunting risks (churn precursors, failing payments, stalled deals), one hunting upside (expansion signals, converting cohorts, unused wins) — and then makes them compete. Severity × dollar impact × urgency. The top 3–5 make your list. The rest wait, or die quietly.
Layer 1 · The item
“Call Meridian — renewal in 31 days, usage down 42%”
Layer 2 · The reasoning
“Champion left → logins fell 42% → two tickets unanswered”
Layer 3 · The raw data
“Stripe sub · usage logs · Intercom threads ↗”
Phase 4
Your morning, by design.
Push, don't pull — but with discipline. Most alerting tools interrupt you all day and call it proactive. Shortlist compresses everything into one moment you already own: the start of your morning. Then it stays quiet.
- 02:00
The sweep.
Agents work through every connected system, cross-referencing what changed today against what it means for revenue.
- 06:45
The cut.
Everything found gets ranked; only the top 3–5 survive. No 40-item digests, no "FYI" noise. If it's not worth your morning, it's not on your list.
- 07:00
Your Shortlist arrives.
Inbox, Slack DM, and the app — the same list, state synced. Every item carries its why, its evidence, and a pre-drafted next step.

You act.
Done it, assign it (the teammate gets the evidence, not just the task), or dismiss it with a reason. Most mornings this takes less time than reading yesterday's dashboards did.
- During the day
Silence.
No pings, no digests, no "engagement." One exception: a true emergency — a payment-outage-level event — breaks through the moment it's detected. Everything else waits for tomorrow's list.
- Friday 07:00
The recap.
What got handled this week, what it was worth, and what's trending into next week. The Monday list starts from what Friday learned.
It learns your priorities
Every Done, Assign, and Dismiss tunes tomorrow's ranking. Dismiss channel-ROI items twice and they stop outranking renewal risks. Two weeks in, the list reads like you wrote it yourself.
Wherever you start your day
Email if you live in your inbox. Slack DM if you live in threads. The app when you want to dig into evidence. Never a forced destination — the list comes to you.
Phase 5
Built to be trusted with everything.
Shortlist reads your most commercially sensitive systems. That only works if the boundaries are absolute.
No training
Your data never trains our models or anyone else's. The reasoning engine is stateless and purpose-built.
Data residency
Choose EU or US hosting; ingestion and storage stay in-region.
Encryption
End-to-end: in transit and at rest, AES-256.
See the engine on your own data.
Connect tonight — five minutes, read-only. Your first list arrives by 7am.
